homunculi symbiosis diagram
Homunculi is the object that has senses, reactions, specific behaviors, and relations. They can record and document the world from a different perspective than human eyes. Homunculi is not a physical model but full-scale architecture, albeit small in size.
In this project, two homunculi are developed to have opposite characteristics but a complementary symbiosis relationship. Under the mechanism of universal joint and double pendulum, two homunculi connect and run in a chaotic and unpredictable pattern, creating new nature along their path.
The ideas of the homunculi then are translated into large-scale architectural form in Los Angles. A weird new world not for humans but for animals, plants, and fungi to thrive will be incubated...

AXONOMETRIC DRAWING: FOUR TYPES OF CHARACTER AND THE NEW ‘INFECTED’ INGLEWOOD OIL FIELD
Four types of characters were developed from humonculi: the manimal, the putant, the fungle, and the outsect. They are incubators for animals, plants, fungi, and insects, respectively. They were initially arranged in a grid pattern in the Inglewood oil field and slowly began to operate within a certain range, start rocking and rollingworking together to reconstruct the future ecosystem of the old industrial site of Inglewood oil field and transform it into a new natural environment.
